Duties As an SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER, GS-0801-13, you will: This position is located in the ANG Base Engineering Division. Serves as the ANG Base Architect/Engineer and, as such, plans, directs, supervises and develops all architect/engineering and personnel management activities in the broad areas outlined below regardless of source of funds or methods of accomplishment. Manages all Air Force real property, utilities, and custodial, sanitation, and entomological services. Provides for and manages the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment; fire protection and inspection; recovery from damage to facilities from any cause including decontamination from a chemical, biological, and nuclear incident or direct terrorist and conventional attacks; natural disaster preparedness actions: reporting through the Air Force Operational Reporting System (AIM 55-11) installation damage, and the assistance and funding required to recover the ANG Base. An additional purpose of the position is to provide supervision and management of engineering, services, disaster preparedness and readiness (weapons of mass destruction, chemical, biological and nuclear defense), explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) (where applicable) and crash-fire-rescue (CFR) for the ANG installation including tenant organizations. Supervises, through subordinate supervisors, a sizable work force of professional engineers, architects and highly skilled supervisory and non-supervisory personnel having divergent occupational specialties and representing a wide range of grades. Requirements Conditions of Employment * National Guard Membership is required. * Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. * Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. * May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. * Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Officer, up to LTC are eligible to apply. Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. Applicants who have passed the EIT examination and have completed all the requirements for either (a) a bachelor's degree in engineering technology (BET) from an accredited college of university that included 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, or (b) a BET from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) may be rated eligible for certain engineering positions at GS-5. Eligibility is limited to positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of the engineering technology program. Applicants for positions that involve highly technical research, development, or similar functions requiring an advanced level of competence in basic science must meet the basic requirements in paragraph A. B. 2. 2. Because of the diversity in kind and quality of BET programs, graduates of other BET programs are required to complete at least 1 year of additional education or highly technical work experience of such nature as to provide reasonable assurance of the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for professional engineering competence. The adequacy of this background must be demonstrated by passing the EIT examination. Functional Manager Selective Factor - Professional Registration: Current registration as a professional engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Engineer intern and engineer in training does not meet the selective factor professional registration requirement. Functional Manager Selective Factor - Written Test: Evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration, which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education, or training which demonstrates administrative, professional, investigative, or technical work requiring the ability to deal effectively with others, to collect, evaluate and organize pertinent facts. Experience preparing clear and concise written reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13 - Must have 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience, education, or training in preparing technical and engineering drawings. Experience searching out and developing new or greatly modified methods and approaches to accomplish the Civil Engineering function. Experience in coordinating and negotiating with contractors and other personnel regarding engineering and administrative matters. Experience supervising and leading others within the Engineering Occupational Series.
