WELDER T32 WITH SECURITY CLEARANCE

Duties This position is located with the Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS) in Phoenix, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of welding in support of maintenance activities. THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. Requirements Conditions of Employment * ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the CSMS. * This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. * Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. * Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. * Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. * Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. * Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. * May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. * Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. * Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted State (and Military) Driver's License. * Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within one year of appointment. * Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. * Applicants must possess or be able to gain and maintain access to all required systems and the AZ-ARNG Network. Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted: E-3/PFC to E-9/SGM/CSM Warrant Officer Candidate: WOC Warrant Officer: W-1/WO1 Compatible Military Assignments: Possess or be able to obtain 91 Series MOS SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess 18 months experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment. Experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. Experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength, and other requirements. These welds may be in hard-to-reach places. Experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures. Experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders. Knowledge of a variety of manual welding processes (e.g., several different gas torches, various electric arcs including inert gas-shielded arcs or a number of both kinds of processes) to weld all types of commonly used metals and alloys. Demonstrate the knowledge of knowing different welding processes required for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. 2. Knowledge of a wide range of manual welding processes to accomplish difficult welds. This includes welds in hard to reach places that must meet close tolerances, strength, and other requirements; gas welding torch processes that involve oxyacetylene, oxyhydrogen, and other industrial gases; and arc and inert gas shielded processes using methods such as metal-arc, gas tungsten-arc. Understands different gas mixtures required and what materials to use them on. 3. Skill in making welds that require complete penetration and fusion of base and filler metals. Understands how to adjust and read machine settings to achieve desired welding process. 4. Ability to perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes, pre-heating, brazing, head welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating. 5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
