Duties * Serves as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations. * Supervisory Police Officers are responsible for responses to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. * Exercises search and apprehension authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, and determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. * Collects and preserves evidence, conducts long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial. * Appears in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings. * Conducts traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. * Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. * Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data. * Performs supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force. * Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. * Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. * This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing. * Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license. * Must be able obtain and maintain a valid (Secret) security investigation. * Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime. * Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required. * Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
