Job Summary and Qualifications
As a highly-skilled and compassionate ICU Nurse you will provide critical care expertise along with excellent patient care on our intensive care unit. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care. You will be part of a team that pulls together to provide a quality patient care experience.
In this role you will:
- Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients based on assessment data and identifies needs for intervention.
- Demonstrate appropriate decision making, critical thinking and clinical judgment to make nursing decision and identify health care needs.
- Evaluate and document each patient's response to medications, interventions, and procedures.
- Assist in the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the patient's Plan of Care based on the assessment of their individual needs.
- Monitor basic EKG, recognize rhythms, and intervene as needed.
- Assist the physician with procedures such as intubation, line placement, and chest tubes
- Ensure ventilator, monitors and other equipment are functioning properly. Ability to trouble shoot alarms.
- Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized, and function well under stressful situations.
- Collaborate with fellow members of the critical care team.
What qualifications you will need:
- Current Idaho State RN license in good standing.
- 1-2 years ICU nursing experience preferred
- Associates degree in nursing required, Bachelor preferred
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS on hire
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain ALS or ACLS is required within 6 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
- TNCC is required within 18 months of hire or transfer into ICU.
- PALS is a highly recommended advanced course, however, is not mandatory.
- Level I competencies are required to be completed by the end of the first 18 months of employment
- Level II competencies are required to be completed by the end of the third year of employment

We serve southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, and parts of Montana. Our facility has an ER, a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (one of two in Idaho), and the only Burn Center in the state of Idaho. We have the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for critically ill children. Our 74-bed Behavioral Health Center offers inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adolescents and adults.
