The Eden School is currently seeking a full time School Nurse to provide medical support and training to school staff as it relates to the medical needs of the students; maintain files and provide nursing care within our private school for students ages 3-21 with autism spectrum disorder.

Primary Responsibilities

Administer medication/treatment when necessary for students that attend school according to district boards of education policy.
Physical assessment of every student to determine wellness.
Care for sick and injured pupils and arrange for appropriate course of action.
Assist with physical examinations for: (a) sports participants, (b) working paper applicants, (c) child study team referrals.
Maintain student health records, including medication history.
Maintain record of annual physical examinations for all employees.
Assist with annual Blood Borne Pathogens in-service
Maintain appropriate first aid supplies in the school building and in the vans.
Conduct CPR training for staff as needed
Annually conduct audiometric screenings for all students in conjunction with the Speech and Language Department.
Conduct bi-annual vision screenings on all pupils.
Provide special health care and related services to meet the needs of students.
Review immunization records for all students.
Maintain compliance with Department of Education guidelines

Position Requirements

Credentials:

Minimum of an RN
School Nurse certification preferred

Experience:

2 years’ nursing experience
Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
CPR/AED certified

Proven commitment to helping individuals with autism and their families

Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with individuals and groups, both within and external to the Eden Family of Services, to achieve desired results
Demonstrated ability to analyze an issue or problem and make recommendations for an effective and efficient resolution
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent presentation skills
Proven commitment to providing excellent customer service within all dimensions of the job duties on a consistent basis
Willingness to travel on a regular basis (primarily local)
