POSITION: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) reports directly to the Clinic Manager. The LVN provides assistance to the physicians and/or Registered Nurse (R.N.) in the examination and treatment of patients in the clinic.

Will assist the physician in performing routine tests for the purpose of evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients. The LVN provides clinical services under the supervision of the physician and/or R.N., such as: draws blood, gives injections, administers and reads negative skin tests, administers immunizations and vaccinations, administers prescribed medications and treatments, obtains laboratory specimens, obtains health histories, takes vital signs and preps patients for doctors examination. Assist with medical supply inventory and orders.

The LVN will participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) and Quality Measures (QM) meetings. Attend ongoing trainings in using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, participates in Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) activities for certification and attend Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Review quality measures and patient satisfaction surveys and implement necessary improvement plans and/or Plan Do Study Act (PDSAs) to reach required thresholds. Assist in all audits. Responsible for vaccine coordination for the VFC program, this includes vaccine inventory, ordering vaccines, training pediatric staff on vaccines, getting access to CAIR for all new employees, updating vaccine management plan/VIS and monitoring storage unit temperatures. Perform other duties as assigned.

For a Lead L.V.N., S/he will be responsible for the supervision of other L.V.N.s and other clinical staff.

REQUIREMENTS: Modern principles, techniques and procedures of nursing, including, medical terminology. Ability to perform skillfully and effectively the duties of a LVN. Work effectively with individuals and follow oral and written directions. Mature judgement, tact, discretion and confidentiality are mandatory. Requires a professional, pleasant and effective representation of the corporation. Must have knowledge in Microsoft applications. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a dependable automobile with insurance and a valid California drivers license. Must submit to and pass a drug test, physical and a criminal background clearance as a pre-condition for employment. Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster, TB test and MMR, TDAP and Hepatitis B vaccines.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, or equivalent. Possession of a valid license to practice as a licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of California under the scope of practice of the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric technician.
