Position Summary
The Procurement Specialist managing the end-to-end procurement process for special order products. This role is responsible for creating and managing purchase orders, coordinating shipping and transportation, tracking purchase orders from placement through delivery, and collaborating closely with the operations team to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and determine optimal fulfillment strategy, deciding whether orders should ship from the distribution center or directly from the supplier based on cost, lead time, and service requirements
- Track all purchase orders from issuance through delivery, proactively resolving delays or issues
- Create, review, and manage purchase orders (POs) for special order products, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with vendors, carriers, and internal stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and logistics workflows
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and logistics procedures
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree
Additional Requirements:
- Experience of creating and managing purchase orders and working with freight carriers
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:
- Experience with special order or custom product procurement
- Knowledge of freight tendering and transportation management systems (TMS)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to track and interpret order and shipment data
