Overview:

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Emergency Department at our M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital location in Minneapolis, MN.

The registered nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. The scope of practice extends from a patient’s entry into the emergency room and continues from triage through discharge. Care is centered on patients and families experiencing acute or chronic, actual or potential physical or psychosocial problems. Unique to emergency nursing are processes that require resuscitation and/or stabilization.

Schedule: This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift and will also work every third weekend.

Responsibilities/Job Description:

As an Emergency Department Pediatric RN, you will be responsible for:

Safely performing advanced monitoring using current technology.
Manages and safely administers complex medication and infusion therapies. Adjusts the patient’s plan of care following the evaluation of patient’s response to the infusion.
Sedatives and Paralytics, Analgesics, Adrenergics (sympathomimetics), Antianginals, Thrombolytics, Antiarrthymics, Antihypertensives, Heparin, Antibiotics, Fluid and electrolyte replacement, Insulin, Blood products (FFP, Platelets, Cryo, Albumin).
Caring for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
Chest tube placement, needle thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, needle cricothyrotomy with jet insufflation, external pacing, cardioversion, defibrillation, forensic collection, rapid sequence intubation, splint application, wound care and closure, conscious sedation, and spinal immobilization.
Demonstrating ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.
Demonstrating ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN)
License/Certification/Registration
Current MN RN license
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers
Experience
1 year of RN Emergency Department, Med/Surg, or Telemetry nursing experience
Additional Requirements
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within one year of hire
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification within one year of hire
