Overview:

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

 

The Director – Portfolio Analysis reports to the Senior Director – Risk analytics and leads a new and growing team of analysts responsible for the development and execution of  the Bank’s Portfolio Analysis program. This team is responsible for the build out and execution of regularly scheduled and ad hoc forward-looking portfolio analytics and sensitivity analysis.  The team provides the firm with to provide a venue for considering comprehensive firm wide impacts of changes in internal or external factors to portfolios, products, or business lines.

Responsibilities:

The Director works with management to establish the analytical priorities of the firm and leads  the team to  deliver on current and long-term analytical priorities and execute day to day activities, including portfolio analytics, sensitivity analysis, econometric analysis, and other analyses as deemed necessary.  The director also will be responsible for growing the team over time as the needs of the group require.

The Senior Risk analyst supports the firm’s responses to audit and regulatory examinations for all assigned Portfolio Analysis activities and coordinates these activities with the Senior Director - Risk Analytics.

  • Own the analytical relationship with each business and the credit risk function.
  • Leveraging these relationships, work with management to define the analytical priorities of the firm.
  • Define structure and format of analyses to be performed and work with the team of analysts to ensure effective execution.
  • Manage a team of analysts to:
    • Ensure completion of reconciliation of analyzed data to available internal and external reporting.
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy of analyzed data sets, noting data quality or completeness concerns to management.
    • Document report, and present to management on the results of assigned analyses, escalating concerns, and conclusions where appropriate.
    • Take ownership of growth and development of assigned resources
    • Complete administrative managerial tasks
Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Risk Management or Analytics in Financial Services industry and management role OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Risk Management or Analytics in Financial Services industry and management role

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with Data manipulation and analytical software (SAS, SQL, Python, Netezza, Oracle, Tableau, PowerBI, Etc.)
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Experience designing and executing analytical processes.
  • Expert skills in Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of Credit Risk principles
  • Strong communication skills – interpersonal.
  • Organization skills - Detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large financial institutions.
  • Prior Credit Risk Experience
  • Prior experience leading a team.
