The Health & Safety Manager is accountable for effective Safety & Health compliance, creating and maintaining a positive and safe environment at their assigned location. As the Safety Leader, you are the steward of Flagstone Foods key goal of “Safety Engaged People & Community: Zero Recordables.” The Health & Safety Team is focused on continuous improvement and responsiveness.Essential FunctionsOverall responsibility is to lead H&S programs, participate in environmental compliance (with Mtc Leader and Corp Environmental Leader).Coordinate all training activities related to Safety and directly deliver Health & Safety Leadership Training and Loc out Tag Out and Power Industrial Truck Certification Trainings for internal Trainers & SME’s.Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations.Maintain plant Safety Data Sheet program and facilitate development of programs that empower employee participation in all areas.Implement a communication strategy across your plant that reinforces a high level of Health and Safety awareness and ownership at all levels of the plant.Validate program and process implementation with hourly staff, team leaders, supervisors, and plant management.Responsible for conducting site reviews, writing audit/review reports, review findings and making recommendations to line management.Responsible for workplace incident investigations, including formal documentation and reporting requirements.Track and communicate Health & Safety performance metrics including goals and the core processes (i.e., audits, events, training, Safety Flash Reports etc.).Guide Plant Management and hourly staff in analyzing incidents and their related trends, including injuries, internal spills, external releases, potential permit non-compliances, compliance with reporting deadlines and regulatory inspections, to ensure that root causes, complete risk assessments, and associated preventative measures are identified and implemented in a timely manner.Represent the Plant in obtaining approval for needed capital and expenses to address Health & Safety risks and opportunities.Support the develop programs based on existing and emerging regulations, coordinate with insurance carriers for safety and property loss activities.Ensure prompt escalation of Health & Safety issues to Business, Operational, and Plant Leadership.Monitor and evaluate security officer performance on key security issues and programs, recommend corrective action programs where appropriate.Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing security plans, security programs such as Emergency Response and Crisis Management, Physical Security, Information Protection, Incident Management and/or Investigation.Responsible for providing advice and counsel to line management on security policy and practices. Identifies exposures and recommends and/or develops corrective plans as appropriate.Maintain training content and compliance via Alchemy Training platform.Knowledge and experience with SAP.Provide budget assistance for Health & Safety related projects.Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems certification a plus.Certifications in EHS (CSP, CHMM, CPEA, ASP, CSM, CIH, etc.) a plus.Experience with wastewater treatment systems a plus.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications (Education/Experience)Bachelor’s degree in technical field or in Environment/Health/Safety or equivalent experience.5 years related experience and thorough knowledge of both State and Federal safety, health, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environmentDemonstrated increasing responsibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in the food industry.Strong project management skills with demonstrated implementation.Strong skills using excel and other information systems and reporting applications. Successfully analyzes and presents data to multiple levels in the organization.Self-direction with the ability to work independently, as well as with groups.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and the ability to lead others through change.Sense of urgency and ownership regarding role and needs of organization.Experienced in conflict resolution.Strong quantitative skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to think critically.Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described within the Essential Functions section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform this job.
