Rol Summary

Travel to customer locations to troubleshoot and repair all Flowserve Control Valve Business Unit products, solicit the sale and installation of spare parts. Repair and overhaul competitor’s valves when needed. Have end users rely upon and consider the technician as a knowledgeable control valve resource. This position also involves the use of valve diagnostic systems for predictive and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment returned to the factory for failure analysis. Answer customer’s questions over the telephone or by e-mail in order to solve problems. Analyze parts and equipment that have been returned to the factory for failure evaluation. All other duties as assigned by manager.

Resposibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment in the field. The equipment will primarily consist of Flowserve Control Valve products, but may also include control valve products of other manufacturers.
  • Provide technical phone support to customers
  • Assist Flowserve QRC’s when requested and available.
  • Assist the engineering department with failure evaluations.
  • Initiate Non Conformance Reports (NCR’s).
  • Conduct diagnostic testing on control valves and interpret the results. Testing can be via SoftTools, Profiler, ValveSight, FAST Test, or StarTalk XP software.
  • Ability to configure, calibrate and commission all digital equipment manufactured by Flowserve. Proficient with HART, MODBUS and Foundation Fieldbus digital communication protocols.

Requirements:

  • College or technical school; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HS Diploma / GED and 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic knowledge of computers is helpful.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear. The employee must frequently be able to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must also occasionally lift 50 pounds or less.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include clear vision to pass a motor vehicle driving test since driving of rental or company vehicle is required with this job.
