We have diverse and rapidly growing transportation practice in California and are looking to further expand our services in the Active Transportation and Sustainability space with an emphasis on transportation solutions that create and support livable communities. GHD is seeking an experienced Transportation Planning Practice Lead to join our Mobility and Planning Group based at any of our California or Arizona offices. This role is pivotal in shaping transportation networks that enhance mobility and contribute to the sustainable development of urban and rural areas. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in transportation systems and strong leadership skills. They will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of transportation projects, ensuring they meet safety, accessibility, equity, and sustainability goals. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of market needs, identify business opportunities, and maintain client relationships. As a valued member of the Transportation Market, you will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders and contribute towards establishing a team focused heavily on gaining sustainable growth for the west region!About The role:Build client relationships to  grow the practice to include active transportation, transit planning, multi-modal planning, complete streets studies, transportation impact analysis and parking studies.Lead and manage transportation planning projects from initiation to completion.Develop market trends through conferences, seminars, continuing education, local task forces, and state and regulatory processes.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive and innovative transportation solutions to our clients.Work collaboratively and seamlessly with other internal groups, networks, Regions, and organizations to win and complete work and service commitments.Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and a deep understanding of client needs.Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and participating in proposal development.Assist in the preparation of marketing materials and presentations.Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on transportation planning strategies.Mentor and guide junior staff in transportation planning methodologies and best practices.Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation planning to assist in crafting strategies that are resilient, equitable, and aligned with future advancements in transportation.Apply advanced transportation modeling techniques to assess and optimize transportation systems.Ensure projects adhere to relevant transportation regulations and compliance standards.About you:Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or similar degreeAt least 15 years of related experience with technical knowledge and skills across the Active Transportation and Sustainability practice areas.Ability and desire to expand and grow relationships and business in the Active Transportation and Sustainability space within the US west region.Strong eye for business to position for and secure transportation planning projects for existing and new GHD clients within US west region.Ability to mentor staff in a multi-disciplinary team and share skills and knowledge with staff and peers.Possess strong leadership in the management and delivery of Active Transportation and Other Planning projects.Ability to lead and prepare proposals and bids for Active Transportation and Other Planning projects.In the problem solving business, it helps to be restlessly curious to deliver community change.Our vision is to ensure energy, water and urbanization are made sustainable for generations to come.
