Senior Accountant Requirements & Qualifications

  • CPA designation or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction, restoration, or job-costing environments.
  • Hands-on experience overseeing month-end close, accounts payable/receivable, and billing.
  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong understanding of job costing.
  • Strong foundation in revenue recognition and cost-to-complete accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas

Senior Accountant Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage the full month-end close process and deliver accurate, timely financial reports.
  • Prepare financial statements, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain and analyze job cost reports; partner with project managers on cost accuracy and margin projections.
  • Oversee accounts payable and ensure timely, accurate billing and proactive collections.
  • Prepare and update rolling cash flow forecasts, optimizing project and supplier payment cycles.
  • Drive improvements in financial processes, accounting controls, and reporting efficiency.
  • Train project managers and staff on best practices in job costing and financial procedures.
