Quality Control Manager Requirements & Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years combined experience in commercial construction, including 2+ years as a quality control manager.
  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience and training considered.
  • USACE CQM for Contractors Certificate required.
  • Level 1 EM 385-1-1, CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30-hour certifications (training may be provided).
  • Strong command of construction materials, processes, and documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with RMS/QCS and Viewpoint preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of automobile liability insurance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical site duties as required.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard business hours and travel, including overnight stays and possible relocation.


Quality Control Manager Preferred Background & Skills


  • Specialty inspection training, licenses, or certifications.
  • LEED AP, AP+, or Green Associate (GA) Certificate.
  • Familiarity with government contracting and DoD construction standards.
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, and project planning.
  • Strong interpersonal, team leadership, and mentoring skills.


Quality Control Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Implement and manage project-specific quality control programs, ensuring strict compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, document findings, and oversee corrective actions for non-conforming work.
  • Coordinate submittals, testing, and inspections; maintain accurate, timely documentation and reports.
  • Lead and facilitate required meetings, progress updates, and training on quality systems for project teams.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and client representatives to uphold quality standards and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and update as-built drawings, submittal registers, and all required quality control documentation.
  • Support safe jobsite practices and compliance through close coordination with safety personnel.
  • Mentor and guide project teams on quality processes, promoting continuous improvement and best practices.
