Construction Associate Attorney Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active Florida Bar license in good standing
  • 4+ years of substantive construction litigation experience
  • Defense-side construction litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to independently manage litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Experience handling all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and hearings
  • Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work full-time in the Tampa office

Construction Associate Attorney Preferred Background & Skills

  • Experience representing owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, or construction-related businesses
  • Experience handling construction defect claims, contract disputes, delay claims, payment disputes, and related construction litigation matters
  • Experience working with construction experts and technical consultants
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and risk allocation issues
  • Experience working collaboratively within a litigation team while also managing matters independently
  • Strong client-service orientation and business-minded approach to legal practice

Construction Associate Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage construction litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal memoranda
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and other court proceedings
  • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses
  • Collaborate with partners and attorneys across the firm's construction practice
  • Analyze construction contracts, project documentation, and technical records
  • Provide practical legal guidance and strategic counsel to construction industry clients
