Responsibilities of the Senior Tax Attorney:
- Represent clients before the IRS and state tax authorities with professionalism and precision
- Manage all aspects of complex tax controversy cases, from intake to closure
- Evaluate case strategies, perform risk assessments, and advise clients on the best resolution path
- Supervise, train, and support associate attorneys and paralegals
- Maintain accurate time tracking and case documentation in the firm’s management system
- Meet annual billing (1,500 hours) and business development (96 hours) goals
- Deliver exceptional client experiences through proactive communication and transparency
Qualifications of the Senior Tax Attorney:
- Active Bar license required
- 5+ years of experience in tax controversy (law firm, accounting firm, or corporate environment)
- Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with legal billing and case management systems
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical communication abilities
- Strong leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills
