Kitchen Manager – Des Moines, IA

Kitchen Manager Requirements & Qualifications
- 6–8 years of management experience in casual dining, with proven success in high-volume settings
- Experience leading BOH teams; hands-on across all kitchen operations, including line management
- Solid knowledge of labor laws, health codes, safe food handling, and sanitation procedures
- Ability to pass a TSA-level background check and maintain airport security badge
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma
- Able to stand and walk for up to 10 hours; ability to reach, bend, and maintain a neat appearance
- Strong communication and team-building skills
Kitchen Manager Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience working in multiple cities and/or recently returned to Des Moines
- Familiarity with both BOH and FOH operations
- Experience managing in environments with shared kitchens or multi-unit locations
Kitchen Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to deliver high-quality, scratch-made dishes
- Oversee all aspects of back-of-house operations, ensuring food safety, sanitation, and adherence to company recipes and standards
- Manage inventory and ordering to achieve targeted food and labor costs
- Utilize training tools and on-shift coaching to foster growth and performance in your team
- Collaborate with other managers to support kitchen operations across multiple airport locations
- Act as a role model for professionalism, innovation, and effective communication
