Catering Event Sales Manager Requirements & Qualifications


  • Minimum high school diploma and either 2+ years of related sales or event industry experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and networking abilities
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and multitask
  • Working knowledge of event/wedding industry practices and sales principles
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Familiarity with sales and event management software (e.g., Caterease) preferred
  • Organized, creative, and comfortable with a variety of religious and cultural customs

Catering Sales Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and generate leads through effective outreach
  • Schedule and conduct tours of event venues, converting them into bookings
  • Develop and present customized proposals to meet client needs
  • Negotiate and secure client contracts, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed
  • Upsell and cross-sell company services and products
  • Maintain detailed records of client interactions and sales activity
  • Support clients through every step, providing exceptional service and follow-up
  • Collaborate closely with event operations teams to ensure seamless client experiences
  • Achieve or exceed pre-set monthly sales quotas and reporting requirements
  • Stay informed about industry trends and venue developments
