Cafe General Manager Requirements & Qualifications


  • Minimum 4+ years of experience managing single-store unit operations in hospitality or consumer brands
  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and lead teams
  • Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso, and related equipment
  • Excellent decision-making and multitasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities
  • Full-time availability (45 hours per week, 5 days, including weekend peak shifts)


Cafe General Manager Preferred Background & Skills


  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus
  • Passion for coffee and customer service
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze trends and adapt


Cafe General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Lead, train, and motivate your team to deliver exceptional service and maintain high standards
  • Oversee inventory management, vendor relations, and compliance with inventory systems
  • Ensure product quality and consistency in every beverage served
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and presentation of the café
  • Develop relationships with neighborhood businesses to grow local brand loyalty
  • Collaborate with other managers to share best practices and foster a supportive culture
  • Manage staff scheduling, review timecards, and ensure timely payroll
  • Champion financial performance, drive sales growth, and actively engage with the community
