A 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary hospital is looking for passionate and skilled full-time Veterinary Emergency/ICU Technicians to join its overnight emergency care team. Emergency Veterinary Technician Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a veterinary emergency, ICU, or critical care setting. 
  • Strong understanding of veterinary emergency procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner. 
  • Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress. 
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail to accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 

Emergency Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:

  • Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and efficient care to emergency patients. This includes assisting with patient restraint, obtaining vital signs, and providing comfort measures.
  • Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications required for emergency procedures and treatments.
  • Maintain a clean and organized emergency treatment area, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, changing bedding, and restocking supplies.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures, such as radiography, laboratory tests, and sample collection, under the guidance of the veterinary team.
  • Aid the veterinary team in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed.
  • Accurately and promptly document patient information, treatments, and observations in medical records.
  • Provide courteous and empathetic communication to pet owners, answering general inquiries, relaying messages, and providing updates on patient care as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Support other departments or areas of the hospital as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the veterinary facility.
