Propane Service Technician Requirements & Qualifications
- 3+ years of propane, HVAC, fuel oil, or gas service experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- One or more of the following New Hampshire gas licenses:
- New Hampshire Fuel Gas Service Technician License (preferred)
- New Hampshire Liquefied Propane Gas Service Technician License
- Fuel Gas Installation Technician License considered for highly qualified candidates pursuing Service Technician licensure
Propane Service Technician Preferred Background & Skills
- CETP (Certified Employee Training Program), Gas Check, NATE, or EPA 608 certifications
- CDL with HazMat and Tanker Endorsements
- Manufacturer certifications on propane heating equipment
- Experience with propane delivery companies, HVAC contractors, or energy services firms
Propane Service Technician Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair propane-fired heating equipment, appliances, and gas systems for residential and commercial clients
- Troubleshoot propane gas systems, regulators, piping, controls, and combustion equipment
- Perform leak and pressure testing, system inspections, and start-up procedures
- Conduct preventive maintenance and safety checks in accordance with New Hampshire codes, NFPA 54, NFPA 58, and company standards
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Complete service documentation and clearly explain repair recommendations to customers
- Participate in emergency and after-hours on-call rotation as needed
