T&E Paralegal Requirements & Qualifications


  • Four to six years of trusts and estates experience, including probate practice
  • Notary Public or willingness to become a Notary Public quickly
  • Ability to file with State, Federal, and Surrogate’s Courts or interest in learning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent references

  • Confident working independently and proactively managing deadlines and multiple tasks
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite with strong Excel abilities
  • Comfortable using Adobe Reader for document assembly

T&E Paralegal Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Administer all aspects of trusts and probate matters, including preparing and filing probate documents
  • Communicate with trustees, family members, beneficiaries, and court personnel
  • Accurately document and manage client communications and records
  • Prepare estate-related forms, petitions, fact sheets, and letters for Surrogate’s Court
  • Liaise with Surrogate’s Courts and third-party vendors to track case progression and retrieve files
  • Assist with federal and state estate/inheritance tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Draft internal memos regarding beneficiary distributions and follow up as needed
  • Consistently record billable time and contribute positively to team goals
