Chief Engineer Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of maintenance or engineering experience in a hotel environment
• Previous hotel management experience in engineering/maintenance is required
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
• Basic computer proficiency with work order systems, email, and spreadsheets
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts

Chief Engineer Preferred Background & Skills

• Previous Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer experience
• CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification is a plus
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Chief Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and maintenance of all building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety
• Lead preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms and public spaces to ensure excellent condition
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and team members
• Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers, including project oversight
• Ensure compliance with hotel brand standards, safety codes, and local/state/federal regulations
• Guide, train, and supervise the maintenance team while promoting a culture of safety and service
• Develop and manage the maintenance budget, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for savings
