Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications


  • 2–4 years of culinary leadership experience as a sous chef or strong lead line cook
  • Experience in high-volume, resort, or seasonal operations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, production systems, and kitchen management
  • ServSafe Manager certification or equivalent
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons


Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills


  • Background in banquets, multi-outlet properties, or family-friendly venues
  • Experience managing inventory, cost control, and vendor relationships
  • Comfort adapting to fluctuating guest volumes due to weather or events


Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Oversee daily food production for restaurants, cafés, quick-service outlets, and banquet operations
  • Ensure consistent execution of recipes, portion control, cooking techniques, and presentation standards
  • Supervise, train, and motivate culinary staff, leading pre-shift meetings and daily production planning
  • Maintain inventory, assist with ordering and cost control, and support monthly inventory counts
  • Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards and maintain organized workstations
  • Support special resort events, pop-ups, and outdoor or mobile food operations
  • Collaborate closely with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless guest experiences
