Overview

Senior Engineering Analyst has experience in coordinating with various individuals such as program and project leaders to analyze system and/or product architecture, design, coding, and performance. Is able to identify strategies for addressing requirements, risks, and issues. Is able to conduct trade-off analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance issues. Also has demonstrable skills in resolve problems as related to their field.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Level Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) (formerly known as IronPort) Architect you will work with a team of senior level network / security engineers that design and deploy enterprise level gateway solutions for the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Experience and Skills:
  • Extensive experience configuring, administering fully licensed Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) mail appliances (formerly known as IronPort).
  • Experience setting up network tests using IXIA technology (IXOS Software, Aptixia IXLOAD, IXLOAD-ATTACK-BASE, IxNetwork PLUS, etc.)
  • Experience with reading, writing, or modifying scripts (Shell, Perl, F5's iRule and Tcl).
  • Experience supporting F5 Technology.
  • Experience with Cisco routing/switching as well as incorporating Linux (Redhat), UNIX, F5, Cisco Email Security Appliance and various network appliances into a large, diverse network. Cisco Nexus 9K, 5K and 2K platforms (Cisco Nexus Operating System (NX-OS) Software) as well as Cisco ASR Routers.
  • Experience with network management tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Experience with logging tools such as Splunk.
  • Experience creating / maintaining detailed system / network diagrams using Microsoft Visio as well as experience utilizing other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience or understanding of the OMB Mandate for Trusted Internet Connections.
  • *Important* - We are looking for candidates that have designed/architected/implemented medium to large sized networks and have deployed said technologies in these networks.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience)
  • A thorough understanding of the OSI model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Technical and Non-Technical)
  • Work well independently as well as with co-workers and be more than willing to provide suggestions / recommendations as needed. Must have a propensity for knowledge sharing.
  • Must be able to adapt to a dynamic work environment with ever changing customer demands and requirements.
  • Must be customer focused and maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Attend administrative staff meetings; provide updates on work statperformance to team lead.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly report input as required.
  • Create, review and modify existing processes and procedures as well as create new processes and procedures as needed
  • Duties may require traveling, being on call periodically, and occasionally working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)
  • Ability to learn new technologies and products, independently, using documentation and online resources
  • Must be able to pass a government Tier 4 High Background Investigation

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
