Low to Median cost of living, low taxes, and excellent school systems.We are seeking an MD or DO to serve as the Regional Medical Director (RMD) for the Upstate Region of SC DPH. The Region Medical Director serves on the Region Leadership Team providing medical and scientific guidance on health initiatives and responses. The Region Medical Director assists in planning and the review of processes and systems pertinent to public health services. The RMD serves as a liaison to the medical community in the Region on matters of public health importance.Duties include: Actively engaging upstate communities as a public health leader and advocate. This can include serving on community taskforce, serving as a subject matter expert in the community, conducting datawalks, working with area schools and universities. Engaging in public health response and disease outbreak activities. This can include participating in the Regional Coordination Center during outbreaks, serving on the regional healthcare coalition, providing letters of non-contagion for funeral homes, and maintaining a readiness and awareness of infectious disease threats and response plans. Providing supervision and management. The RMD supervises the regional lab team and supports their efforts. Supports clinic activities of the health departments (STDs, immunizations, family planning, employee health and public health emergencies).
