Description and FunctionsOpen Until Filled GENERAL DESCRIPTION:This position is responsible for providing inpatient acute psychiatric care to patients at the Wyoming State Hospital. This includes: performing psychiatric evaluations for new admissions, assigning diagnoses, prescribing medication and other treatment modalities, developing and implementing treatment plans with other professional disciplines, leading a treatment team, and taking on-call in rotation with other psychiatric providers.The city of Evanston is a small and friendly Rocky Mountain community that is a 45-minute drive from the world-famous ski slopes of Park City, Utah. There are concerts, shopping, dining, professional sporting events, and an international airport 60 minutes away in Salt Lake City. Evanston's area is excellent for recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.Human Resource Contact: Brenda Hales / [email protected] / 307-444-0791ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.Performs admission and diagnostic evaluations to assess the mental status of patients admitted to the Wyoming State Hospital to determine appropriate careProvides ongoing assessments and treatment to determine the progress of each patient’s treatmentLeads treatment teams regarding the care, needs, and progress of patientsMaintains appropriate paperwork required for patient careMaintains an active role in updating treatment plansAdministers medical evaluations, and medications, and provides psychiatric counseling for mental health issuesReviews and monitors physical symptomsOrders and interprets labsResponsible for discharge planningCoordinates with other disciplines, including primary care staff and external healthcare providersDirect workflow of interdisciplinary teamsTrains and educates student nurses, psychology trainees, and staff from other disciplinesLeads therapeutic groups for patientsResponds to code blues and other emergenciesServes as front-line management for safety calls and interventionsFollows hospital and state policy for the use of involuntary treatmentParticipates in calls with guardians and family members in accordance with policyPerforms appropriate collateral medical duties as assigned by the Medical DirectorQualificationsKNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and medical conditions impacting patients.Knowledge of psychotherapy, side effects, risks, and benefits.Knowledge of the guidelines, rules, and regulations regarding prescribing practices.Knowledge of current legal liabilities, federal, and state rules and regulations, and standards governing psychiatric rehabilitation care of the mentally ill.Knowledge of treatment intervention in highly complex cases.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Board certified (or eligible) in Psychiatry and eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Wyoming.Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:General office conditions, including minimal lifting .NOTES: FLSA:  ExemptThis is an AT-WILL position.Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions.  A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.We participate in E-Verify.Supplemental InformationClick here to view the State of Wyoming Classification and Pay Structure.URL: The State of Wyoming is an Equal Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.Class Specifications are subject to change, please refer to the A & I HRD Website to ensure that you have the most recent version.Job DetailsSalary$15,286.41 - $16,984.90 MonthlyLocation
