SUMMARY

As a Business Development Manager at Great Lakes Ace, you will be charged with developing relationships with and selling to existing business customers, as well as aggressively searching for new business customers. You will leverage your outside sales skills and our large network of physical locations and vendor partners to help us capture the tremendous potential for growth in sales/profits from business customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Grow sales with existing GLA business accounts through relationship based sales techniques and tactics. Utilize reporting and in-store shopping habits/frequency to maximize sales growth opportunities among this customer group.

Aggressively target specifically defined new business customer opportunities which are relevant in the market and have proven to represent significant sales/profit potential. Opportunities/leads may be identified from your own contacts or in cooperation with the B2B Merchandise Manager, District Managers, Store Managers, B2B Champions, etc.

Maintain a keen awareness of what is happening in the marketplace in order to uncover new product sales opportunities and keep us relevant with business customers.

Business Development Manager will act as a conduit between GLA business customers and store teams, including the Store Manager and B2B Champion, to ensure B2B product needs and customer demands are met in a prompt fashion.

In partnership with Management and using established guidelines, the Business Development Manager will have flexibility to establish special pricing, special orders and custom solutions as needed.

May participate in local events or key trade shows to develop new and existing business customer relationships.

Embrace a strong team approach to ensure the cohesive and effective relationships necessary for success.

Some travel is involved. The selected candidate will have access to a company vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree or equivalent from a four-year college preferred or five years of related sales experience.

Able to foster teamwork and collaboration. Can motivate others both internal and external to perform enthusiastically

Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.

Ability to work flexible hours and work remotely with various corporate departments.

Ability to access the local competitive environment and develop appropriate B2B strategies. Refined interpersonal skills to engage with others, solid negotiating and conflict resolutions abilities.

RELATIONSHIPS
Ability to work cross functionally with all areas of the company Stores, Executives, Merchandising, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, etc.


TECHNOLOGY

Excellent PC skills including skilled knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook as well as various MS Operating Systems. Use of computer keyboard, mouse, RF gun, Google Drive (cloud), Ace Net, Epicor, Human Capital Management (HCM) Software and email.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Advanced computer skills necessary, must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Be able to create Excel spreadsheets. Requires significant attention to detail and organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize, problem solve, multi task, have excellent communication skills and view their routine tasks analytically. Advanced knowledge of key product lines and departments as well as a complete understanding of replenishment systems, and supply chain.
