We're hiring a Part-Time Dental Assistant to support our clinical team chairside, help keep operatories running smoothly, and contribute to a positive patient experience from check-in to check-out. This is a great fit for someone who's organized, dependable, and genuinely enjoys patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Chairside Support
- Assist the dentist during a full range of procedures (exams, restorations, extractions, crown & bridge, endo, etc.)
- Pass instruments, maintain a clear field, and anticipate the doctor's needs
- Take and develop digital X-rays (bitewings, PAs, panoramic) per NYS guidelines
- Take intraoral photos and impressions/scans as directed
Operatory & Sterilization
- Set up and break down operatories between patients
- Clean, sterilize, and package instruments following OSHA and CDC infection control protocols
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and flag reorders
- Ensure equipment is functioning and report issues promptly
Patient Care
- Greet and seat patients, review medical history, and document chief complaint
- Provide post-op instructions and oral hygiene education
- Help patients feel comfortable, informed, and cared for
Administrative Support
- Accurately chart procedures and clinical notes in Dentrix or Open Dental
- Help with patient reactivation outreach and appointment confirmations as needed
- Maintain HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions and recordkeeping
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- NYS Dental Assistant Certification or actively working toward certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
- Radiology certification per New York State requirements
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred
- 1+ years of chairside experience in a general dentistry setting
- Experience with Dentrix or Open Dental practice management software
- Familiarity with digital radiography and intraoral scanners
- Bilingual (Spanish, Polish, or other) a plus
Schedule
Flexible part-time schedule, weekdays. Specific days/hours discussed during interview based on practice needs and candidate availability.
