GWI Vermont LLC is seeking a Fiber Optic Installation Technician. This full-time position offers a competitive wage and benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid holidays and vacation/personal time.

The person in this position will perform the tasks necessary to establish GWI VT fiber optic internet service in homes and businesses, as well as assist with troubleshooting and repairing/enhancing the services of existing customers. A successful installation technician will ensure each installation is completed in a timely, safe and professional manner and exhibit superior customer service and interpersonal skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicates technical concepts to potential residential and business subscribers.
Optimizes home networks on Windows PCs, Macs and various Wi-Fi / mobile devices.
Understands and executes low-voltage structured wiring principles and maintains high standards of craftsmanship and service.
Operates construction equipment, such as power drills, fish tapes and related equipment.
Serves as a point of escalation for customer requests.
Conducts each installation in a safe manner.
Remains current on GWI products, services and programs.
Exhibits consistent good judgments; makes decisions independently and with minimal supervision.
Manages situations with a calm, pleasant and professional manner.
Records each installation accurately, providing all paper or computer work associated with each installation in a timely fashion.
Executes special projects and all other work as assigned by management, including second level technical support directly with subscribers and/or customers.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to see color accurately.
Ability to carry 50 lbs. Unassisted.
Ability to work on a standard ladder.
Valid driver’s license.
Reliably arrive at the workplace on time and ready to work.
High school diploma or GED.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There is a large variety of working conditions with this position. Most days are spent inside and around customer homes, dealing with warm and cold weather when outside, and driving. Employee will also spend some time in a normal office environment with moderate exposure to noise, dust, and temperature.
