Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Paramedic for our Emergency Department Team. As our Paramedic, you will provide high quality, patient-centered care within a defined scope of practice, according to certifications, state and local regulations, and facility policy. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the ED Paramedic gathers pertinent patient data, monitors vital signs, administers specified treatments and medications within the scope of practice, and ensures patient and personal safety in a hazard-free environment. The ED Paramedic delivers compassionate, holistic care, supporting the rights and dignity of all patients and promoting the vision/mission/values of the organization.

 Delegated tasks may include: 

  • You will obtain vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, apply ice/heat as directed, and perform simple non-sterile dressing changes.
  • You will perform safe patient handling that may include turning and positioning, use of specialty beds, patient transfer, assistance walking, oxygen use and suction use.
  • You are responsible and accountable for providing patient care under the direct supervision of the physician and/or RN/Charge RN in accordance with physicians' orders, and established policy and procedure.

  • You will facilitate patient transfer to floors, and assist with patient flow.
    You will accurately document the administration of care in the patient record in a timely manner.

  • You will identify and proactively communicate any changes in patient condition, results, behavior, observations, or complaints and reports to RN/Charge RN/LPN.
  • Administers and documents prescribed medications to patients in accordance with hospital policies and practice guidelines.
  • Takes report from EMS.

Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of approved Paramedic program.
  • Current State of Florida Paramedic License
  • American Heart Association ACL, BLS, PALS
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required for Behavioral Health
  • One year experience as Paramedic in the field or Hospital setting preferred

 What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Vocational School Graduate
  • Paramedic, or (EMT-State) Emergency Medical Technician
