Job Summary and Qualifications

Under general supervision, prepare moderate federal, state and local income tax returns for corporations and partnerships, including the reconciliation of deferred income taxes and state estimates and extensions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Prepares federal, state, and local income tax returns, using tax return preparation software, for corporations and partnerships with a higher degree of difficulty. Returns at this level would include standard hospital returns and moderate to complex multi-state returns.
  • Prepares tax depreciation calculations, utilizing fixed asset software, for more complex entities.
  • Reconciles deferred income taxes in support of the calculation of overall deferred income tax assets and liabilities.
  • Assists in the calculation of the consolidated federal/state income tax liabilities for quarterly and year-end financial statements by gathering and compiling data.
  • Involved in various tasks associated with the consolidation of the federal income tax return, including reconciliations of year-end estimates to the actual return.
  • Assists in reconciling deferred income taxes to consolidate partnership investments, primarily for surgery center partnerships.
  • Analyzes tax assessment notices and then responds verbally and/or in writing.
  • Responsible for the yearly tax workpaper package process, which includes the annual update of the workpaper package, the mail-out of the workpaper packages to all facilities, and fielding questions from facility personnel.
  • Participates in the training and recruiting process by coaching new staff and interns and representing the department at university events, as requested.
  • Works with the Research and Consulting group and the State and Local Tax group on special projects in which assistance is needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires an Accounting degree from an accredited college/university (B.S, B.A, or B.B.A). A graduate degree and/or CPA certification is preferred if not already obtained.
  • The experience requirement for this position is a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a public or private accounting setting.
