Heidelberg Materials is currently looking for a responsible, safe, and dependable Production Utility Worker to join our Victoria team. We are looking for a punctual team player, with a positive attitude, who enjoys working outdoors on a variety of equipment. This role can be focused on Production, Maintenance, or a combination of both. In your application, please outline how your previous work experience will benefit our team and business activities.

In this role, you will support Plant Operations by operating fixed Jaw and Cone crushing equipment, performing manual clean up, identifying maintenance issues, assisting and/or leading equipment repairs, maintaining organization of plant work areas, material identification, communication with customers, and complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Who We Are Looking For:

  • Comfortable and able to work outside in year-round weather conditions.
  • In good physically able condition. The candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lb, lift objects overhead, daily shovelling, daily standing for extended periods of time, operation of fire hoses for yard cleaning and dust control, kneeling, climbing ladders, walking on varied terrain and working for short periods of time in uncomfortable positions when performing maintenance
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and preferably a Valid driver’s license
  • Capable of learning through job training and then able to work independently
  • Experience welding steel and mechanically inclined. Eager to learn equipment and maintenance activities
  • Previous industrial experience, working with crushing equipment and heavy equipment operation is an asset
  • Shift starts may vary from 6am-9am and the yard is open Monday to Saturday. We strive to keep employees schedules steady.

We offer:

  • $30.50/h + benefits, holidays, and pension contributions
  • Starting with 2 weeks paid vacation + statutory holidays. This is equivalent to 8.5% of gross earnings paid out on bi-weekly pay deposit
  • Secure, full time (40h/week), long-term employment with overtime available
  • Shifts are scheduled for 8.5h with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and a paid morning and afternoon coffee break
  • Following successful completion of the probationary period, eligibility for a comprehensive medical, dental & vision care benefit package covering employees and their eligible dependents. Immediate access available to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Following successful completion of the probationary period, Heidelberg Materials will contribute 6% of gross wages (inclusive of wages, vacation, statutory holiday pay and premiums) to the Operating Engineers Pension Plan.
  • Annual safety boot and rain gear allowance of $125 per year
  • Union membership with IUOE115 – contract in place until July 1, 2025
  • Opportunities for external training and exposure working with existing employees to learn operations and maintenance of on-site equipment
  • Opportunities for training and advancement to Loader Operator on CAT 972 and Komatsu WA450 loaders
