This position will supervise the lifeguards and pool facility at Hersheypark Camping Resort, as well as work in and assist in overseeing the recreation/activities department. This position will be responsible for hiring, training and scheduling lifeguards, overseeing the pool facility and assisting in scheduling, creating and executing recreation and activities events.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

Oversee pool operations and lifeguard staff
-
Manage and maintain proper water conditions, including chemical levels, in all swimming pools*

Hire, train, motivate, develop, and manage performance of staff. Monitor/approve employee requests and edit payroll as needed. Create schedules to provide adequate coverage for all pool functions*

Prepare materials and other resources to ensure the appropriate, timely, and thorough training for all lifeguard positions at Hersheypark Camping Resort including lifeguard training classes, HE&R required trainings, monitoring lifeguard certifications, and hosting weekly in-service training for lifeguards*

Ensure cleanliness of the facility by enforcing and maintaining safety, health, and sanitation practices that meet guest expectations and property standards*

Resolve and follow up on any complaints, issues, injuries, or other concerns to ensure resolutions effectively meet guest needs and provide excellent customer service*

Complete first aid and rescue reports and submit via the company tracking system*

Conduct and attend property meetings. Support lifeguards and recreation/activity staff by filling in as needed

Assist with maintaining supplies and completing inventories as needed

Assist in planning, promoting and executing all activities and events for all age groups

Assist in creating a monthly activity calendar and uploading the calendar to internal software

Maintain and issue recreational equipment and facilities

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
-
Must have a valid Driver’s License
-
Minimum of 2 years of lifeguard experience
-
At least 1 year of supervisory experience
-
Lifeguard Instructor Certification, Certified Pool Operator (CPO), and Pesticide Certification (Category 24). Pre-Employment Preferred Certifications: Ellis Lifeguard Certification for Deep Water

This position may provide care, supervision, guidance, or control of children or may have regular, ongoing contact with children that is integral to the responsibilities of the position. As a result, in accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, newly hired candidates are required to obtain the following clearances: a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI). Completed clearances are required to be submitted prior to starting employment.

Schedule varies according to operational needs but includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be available to work varied shifts. Shifts can begin as early as 7am and end as late as 11pm

Training for the position will be conducted by the Hershey Resort Properties through the International Pool and Lifeguard Training Program (Jeff Ellis & Associates). Applicants that are currently certified through American Red Cross or other Certification programs, are eligible to apply, but must be certified by Jeff Ellis & Associates.
