Job Purpose
Procuring and coordinating the supply of raw materials (Resin and Aluminum) in support of Honda of America Manufacturing (Alabama Auto Plant) and its Tier 1 Suppliers. Initiate and support cost down targets. Support and coordinate Aluminum and Resin specific strategies. Act independently as Honda Trading’s representative to Honda of America Manufacturing in matters which require face to face contact. The successful candidate will work on-site at the Honda Alabama Plant, requiring physical presence Monday - Friday.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure on-time and accurate delivery of required raw materials requirements. Accurate orders placed in a timely manner; thorough analysis of inventory position; frequent follow-up with suppliers; 100% on time delivery (no short-ships/missed shipments). Maintenance of In-House electronic data retrieval.
- Improve Customer Service - Thorough knowledge of customers & their expectations; rapids response to inquiries; no pending claims; regularly scheduled visits to customer facilities; strive to exceed customers' expectations. Support plant specific new model activity.
- Improve Supplier Management - Act as contact and liaison between HTA and assigned suppliers; regularly funnel feedback using QCDDM philosophy & evaluations - (lead meetings, determine delivery % goals, track, and present and coordinate agenda & presentation packets); ensure open lines of communication to discuss organizational improvements. Manage and present monthly metrics to suppliers for continuous improvement. Manage results. Manage communication between Customer Purchasing, Accounting and Supplier Sales and Technical groups.
- Lead scrap activity within Alabama Auto Plant, ensuring timely collection of weight tickets, trailer movements, accurate data collection, and on time completion of required scrap reports.
- Improve profitability of department - Clear and concise reporting of pertinent operating data; thorough checking and analysis of sales, costs and margins; no aged accounts receivable; rapid inventory turnover
- Improve efficiency of department- Develop clear daily operating procedures with assistant; analyze current tasks for opportunities to improve efficiencies ensure accuracy of all documentation (MSAs, Product Records, etc.)
- Communication to management - Act as HTA’s main on-site contact to Alabama Auto Plant. Keep management informed of all potential problems or personal concerns; Work unsupervised while keeping leadership informed of activities.
- Motivate assistant and control workload - Understand assistant's daily work activity; encourage information status updates of projects and weekly activities; provide encouragement and direction; coach and counsel to improve efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- BS/BA in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent work experience (Required)
- Purchasing or Sales experience (Required)
- Basic knowledge of cost accounting (Preferred)
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or relevant supply chain (Preferred)
- Customer service experience (Required)
- Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Sound Understanding of General Business Concepts
- Conflict Management Skills
- Strong Understanding of Cost Factors Impacting Profit/Loss
