FUELS PIE INSTRUMENTATION AND DATA SCIENCE DEPARTMENT MANAGER

DescriptionIdaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fuels PIE Instrumentation and Data Science Department Manager to work in our Fuels PIE department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off.The Fuels Post-Irradiation Examination (PIE) Instrumentation and Data Science Department Manager provides managerial and technical expertise to support engineering staff that executes mission in the space of fuels PIE and performance analysis.Responsibilities Include:Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and professionals.Provide guidance to your team within the latitude of established company policies.Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques.Build financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks. May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines.Partner with important contacts outside own area of expertise and other external partners.Present results and recommendations across discipline.You will typically report to a direct report of a Director, Sr. Director, or Senior Leadership.Coordinate with the HFEF mission manager to ensure research priorities and expected timelines are understood by staff.Ensure that staff assignments are integrated in the resource-loaded mission schedule by coordinating with HFEF Mission Manager.Coordinate with all managers that share technical staff resources within defined projects to ensure R2A2s are established for all team members.Be a technical resource and mentor for staff to guide development ideas and foster innovation within the department.Ensure that staff implements the assigned CAPIE R2A2s.Ensure the tasks that get completed are both aligned with organizational goals and empowering to the employee.Support development of department group strategies and their integration within the divisional strategy.Implement all responsibilities contained in the management model, planning , staffing, leading .QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelors degree and 8 years of relevant, Masters degree and 6 years relevant, PhD and 4 years relevant.Degree in mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering or related disciplinesAdditional Skillset required for position:Extensive knowledge of hot cell engineering systemsThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L clearance, which requires US Citizenship.Job Information:The target pay range for this position is $137,205 - $203,855.
