Operates at formal events such as weddings, galas, and corporate functions. This role demands a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and polished customer service. Works with specific service styles like plated, passed, or banquet-style meals, ensuring that guests receive a high-quality dining experience that meets the event’s standards.
Responsibilities
- Event Setup & Breakdown: Assist in the setup and breakdown of event spaces, including arranging dining tables and place settings.
- Serving Guests: Serve food and beverages to guests in a polished, professional manner according to the event’s style (plated, buffet, or passed service).
- Guest Interaction: Greet and engage with guests, ensuring they have everything they need for a pleasant dining experience.
- Menu Knowledge: Be familiar with the event menu, providing information and recommendations when needed to assist guests with their choices.
- Table Maintenance: Clear used plates and glassware from tables, keeping the dining area neat and organized throughout the event.
- Handling Complaints: Respond to any guest complaints or concerns with professionalism, resolving issues quickly and courteously.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with other servers, chefs, and event staff to ensure the event runs smoothly.
- Drink Refills: Refill guest beverages as needed, including water, wine, and other drinks, throughout the event.
- Maintaining High Standards: Ensure that service is always conducted with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Adhering to Dress Code: Maintain a polished and professional appearance, in compliance with event or venue guidelines.
Requirements
- Passion for hospitality.
- Previous banquet server, waitstaff, or bartending experience within a restaurant or catering company.
- Experience serving guests during large events.
- Attention to cleanliness and safety.
- Patience and a customer-oriented approach.
- Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude.
- Responsible, trustworthy, and team player qualities.
- Physical ability and stamina to stand for long periods of time and carry/lift heavy items.
