This full-time, onsite position is within the Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement (ASAM) Branch’s Radar Team of the Range Instrumentation Division (RID) at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. The position provides radar tracking support for the team in a fast-paced, rewarding technical environment at the forefront of naval aviation test and evaluation. General Functions
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs instrumentation-caliber range tracking radars to provide accurate Time, Space, and Position Information (TSPI) for range systems flight testing support
• Performs Airport Surveillance Radar-8 (ASR-8) radar system maintenance and runs associated calibration routines
• Applies electronic and engineering techniques, principles, policies, and precedents to repair, modify, install, test, evaluate, and operate electrical, electronic, mechanical, communications, or related data processing systems for the ASR-8 radar system, instrumentation radar systems, surface search radar systems, and associated support equipment
• Maintains, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, and programs radar system components and support equipment
• Provides assistance and backup support to ASAM’s current Radar Technician
• Must be able to work overtime for flight support when requested
Other Requirements/ Experience/ Skills
• Minimum of six (6) years’ work experience performing the stated or similar functions
• RF emitter operations and/or maintenance experience is desired.
• Candidate must possess AN/GPN-27 or ASR-8 certifications or be able to receive and successfully graduate with the associated training
• Experience with maintenance and calibration of the AN/GPN-27 and/or ASR-8 is desired
• Basic Microsoft Office Skills are required
• Should be a self-starter and be able to use initiative to work with minimal supervision
• Must be flexible and team oriented
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass Drug Screening Education Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent GED is required
• Engineering/Electronics Technician AA/AS degree or related curriculum from an accredited college or university or successful completion of technical school or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses from an accredited college Clearance Requirements:
• Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
