Opportunity: This position will perform duties associated with the management of a Windows PC/Server and virtualization environments as outlined below. In general, these duties include (but are not limited to):Provide day-to-day operational services supporting server infrastructure, hardware, software, and systems. Handle routine aspects of server administration for Windows and VMware server environments which including monitoring of CPU/Disk, maintenance, troubleshooting, and hardware/software installation. Perform ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of servers and applications to ensure their ongoing availability, stability, and compliance with standards and security requirements. Administer, run, and maintain clients Windows server infrastructure in production, dev and test environments. Responsibilities include: - Upgrade VMWare VCenter to 6.7
- Configure VMWare to include Virtual Center, HA Cluster, and Single Sign On
- License Upgrade
- Windows Server 2016 upgrades
- Virtual Machine domain controller upgrades, Server 2016 from Server 2008
- Creation of VM templates for commissioning new servers
- Responsible for security updates, patching, and STIG compliance
- Responsible for day to day Windows System Administration of AD, VMware and Group Policy environments
- Successfully stood up new Windows 2016 domain for the High Performance and Instrumentation Control lab
- Windows SQL server 2018 created
- BigFix installed on all clients
- STIG Compliance & removal of unauthorized software
- New workstations deployed and or lifecycled
- Reconfigure Backup Exec and new tape drive
- Recreate tape backup jobs
- Critical vulnerability patching is ongoing
- Monthly tape back ups Qualifications: *5 years of experience required.
*DOE Q or DoD Top Secret clearance required
*Work must be performed onsite in West Mifflin, PA or Schenectady, NY Skills/ Technology Desired: *Experience in supporting Microsoft Windows server computing environment, specifically Microsoft Active *Directory and Group Policy Object management.
*Knowledge and working experience with Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019 and future versions of the Windows Server Operating System.
*Experience with server and desktop virtualization including VMWare.
*Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2016 or newer.
*Experience with two-factor authentication using SmartCard technology.
*Experience in hardening of systems through implementation of Cyber Security principles, policies, and requirements.
*Experience with scripting technologies such as VB Script or PowerShell.
