Registered Nurse

 

 

Overview: Temporary (beginning in October), Remote RN Position! M-F 1st shift. ** Possibility of going permanent! ** with UMWA Health & Retirement Funds.

 

Compensation: Salaried- $70,000 Annual 

 

General Description: 

Coordinates the delivery of health services that will impact beneficiaries' health, well-being, and quality of life. Implements and manages innovative medical programs that support the medical management principles of the Funds. Identifies, establishes, and maintains relationships with providers and community agencies to promote beneficiary welfare and health education. 

Promotes beneficiary access and participation in health promotion, disease prevention, and health education programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Complete applicable nursing assessments in the homes of beneficiaries to coordinate the health services to improve health, well-being, and quality of life.
  • Collaborates and maintains close working relationships with providers and community agencies, refers beneficiaries in need of services as appropriate.
  • Promotes beneficiary access and participation in health promotion, disease prevention, and health education programs.  
  • Develops and implements innovative programs that will assist beneficiaries in their health and daily living in collaboration with Fund’s management team.
  • Networks with vendors developing health fairs and events that promote beneficiary access and participation, directed toward improving the health status of beneficiaries.
  • Conducts health education seminars for beneficiaries.
  • Identifies health care issues that affect beneficiaries and implements a case conference with the medical director and/or the Funds medical management vendor that will enhance, maintain, or restore health and prevent disease.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with field health and medical management staff, and other medical professionals, beneficiaries, their families, and community agencies.
  • Prepares written reports and/or oral presentations to trustees and/or other operations staff on the status of the activities in the clinical field service office.
  • Records all beneficiary related interactions timely in the Fund’s designated medical management system.
  • Productively meet the performance measures established by the Funds.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college/university plus five years’ experience in nursing. Three years in community health nursing desirable,

or

Associate degree in nursing or graduation from a hospital diploma program plus 5 years home health experience and/or geriatric outpatient clinic. A certificate in case management recommended.

In states where compact state licensure is available required to obtain within one year of employment.

 

Technical Business Industry Knowledge:

Current knowledge of nursing methods and practice, including community health nursing principles.   Knowledge of managed care principles, health care management, case management and disease management.  Also, must be cognizant of the health care needs of women and geriatric patients.
