Job Description:

The Laboratory Supervisor II is responsible for all aspects of the laboratory department, including direct reports, regulatory requirements, and technical processes. These caregivers have significant experience and knowledge of laboratory operations and caregiver engagement.

Scope:

Leaders in this position oversee the human resource management of the department, including hiring, performance reviews, staff development, training, retention, scheduling, payroll, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations. In addition to personnel management, the Lab Supervisor II oversees the general operation of the department.

Additional responsibilities in this position may include:

  • Operational and capital budget
  • Advanced troubleshooting
  • Corrective action
  • Continuous improvement project oversight
  • Knowledge of CAP regulatory requirements
  • Participating or leading system and/or facility work groups
  • Supporting department and Caregiver goals and system initiatives
  • Maintaining bench competency and skills
  • Serving as a patient and customer liaison
  • Deescalating stressful situations calmly and respectfully


Minimum Qualifications:

  • For Technical Supervisor: Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory / medical technology science. For Non-Technical Supervisor: Bachelor's Degree in a non-science field accepted. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Two years’ laboratory experience
  • Experience in developing, leading, and implementing department initiatives.
  • Interpersonal and effective communication skills both, verbal and written.
  • Experience with intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, and laboratory systems skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a lab that performs high complexity testing.
  • Experience with laboratory regulatory agencies
  • Six months’ supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Interact with others requiring the employee to verbally communicate information.
  • Operate computers and complex and delicate lab equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read lab equipment, monitors, and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer or other equipment.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$41.22 - $63.59
