We are looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our team in supporting the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD(HA)). The ASD(HA) is the principal staff advisory to the Secretary of Defense for health and oversees the Military Health System (MHS). The MHS is comprised of the Defense Health Agency (DHA), the medical readiness organizations of the Military Departments, and the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences. Your day-to-day work will include: This role focuses on the creation, revision, and formatting of JCIDS-related documents, ensuring they comply with established standards and guidelines. * Being responsible for developing and maintain high-quality documentation to support the JCIDS process. * Developing clear, concise, and coherent written content that effectively communicates capability requirements, shortfalls, and proposed solutions. * Facilitating the review and coordination of JCIDS documents with relevant stakeholders incorporating feedback and revisions as needed. * Providing technical writing guidance and mentorship to other team members involved in the JCIDS process. * Collecting and organizing information to prepare documents, training materials, guides, proposals, and reports. * Providing technical edits to Military Health documentation, manuals, reports, and other documents and presentations. * Utilizing strong writing, editing, and communication skills to analyze and present complex information in an easy-to-understand format. * Completing various large and complex editing and writing projects as well as solve problems of varied scope and complexity associated with the MHS, Joint Capability Areas (JCAs), Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) processing, and Programming and Budgeting. * Conducting documentation and document reviews of project artifacts and deliverables to ensure DoD standard are met. * Developing process documentation and procedure manuals that support the Capabilities Portfolio Management Review (CPMR) project. * Developing and maintaining documentation repositories for all project artifacts. At a minimum you should have: * An active SECRET clearance. * Master's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree and 18+ years of experience. * Extensive experience working as a Technical Writer in the DoD supporting Senior U.S. Military Staffs, DoD stakeholders, and/or DoD/Army Financial Management personnel. * Knowledge and familiarity with the Military Health Systems. * Expert in using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe. * Expert skills in critical thinking, communication, time management, and teamwork. * Effectively manage and prioritize multiple work efforts at a time in a high-paced environment. *All employees may be called upon to provide their knowledge and/or expertise to proposal efforts including contract re-competes. **This job description is subject to change at any time.
