This role includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This person provides direction for effective execution of maintenance activity on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and office facilities. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for the optimum utilization of available resources such as manpower, equipment, time, etc. This person must be responsible for decisions, actions and failures; must establish clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. In addition, the maintenance mechanic must partner with others to get work done and work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.Key Responsibilities Ensures the capability of efficient operation of all equipment in the Wet End areas, including Raw Receiving, Tank Farm and Clarifier, by using preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing equipment to achieve operational goals. Ensures the accuracy of data reporting systems such as the Maintenance Daily Logs, Preventative Maintenance Forms and Work Orders. Performs ARC, MIG, TIG welding and Acetylene cutting in a safe and correct manner when repairing and fabricating equipment. Ensures effective training of new Class II Mechanics. Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition. Performs assigned responsibilities during Plant evacuation or other emergency situations. Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and incorporates acquired skills and knowledge. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. Ensures that all work related activities within the facility are accomplished through methods which promote safety to employees and which minimize potential impact to the community and environment in which we live. Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures and Union Labor Agreement. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style consistent with operational goals. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the Company. Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational Divisional standards.Typical EducationHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) Relevant ExperienceTwo-year degree in industrial maintenance or2+ years related experience and/or training. A combination of education and experience will be considered.Other InformationExperience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics; Basic electrical repair in an industrial/manufacturing environment; Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings and write detailed repair reports; Ability to analyze and make decisions; Ability to diagram equipment control problems; Strong verbal and written English communication skills; Good organizational and planning skills. Preferred: Experience with 480-volt power and 24 control voltages to 120 volt electrical troubleshooting; Program and trouble shoot Allen Bradley SLC500 and MicroLogix series. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory, and represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
