Job purpose:

The role of the Outbound Supervisor is an integral part of our warehouse operations, focusing on the outbound logistics within the distribution center for specific business units. By actively managing the employees in your team, you enable them to optimally perform their daily tasks and help them to develop further, so that Johnson Controls can perform better and in line with our performance targets. The management, coaching, assessment and development of the employees within your department is key. Furthermore, the Outbound Supervisor will use his/her own experience and information available from the floor and in the systems to identify bottlenecks and drives actions towards resolving them, where needed with the help of the Operations manager who he/she reports into. In order for you and the team to be successful, you stimulate cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.

You measure and monitor the quality of the department’s processes and initiate and define improvement projects in collaboration with the other teams, as well as lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects and projects within your own department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Together with the outbound team lead, you plan and coordinate the activities of the daily outbound order processing including picking, packing and shipping
  • You ensure the most efficient business operations possible by optimizing the logistics warehouse processes and minimizing costs 
  • You help the team by removing bottlenecks impacting their work and find ways to improve the performance, while ensuring JCI’s quality standards and your team’s KPIs are met
  • You make sure the team members have up to date work instructions they can follow in their daily work, and perform their tasks in line with our Zero Harm policy
  • You are actively focusing on coaching and skills development of your team
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 5S Principles
  • Commit to employee feedback and developmental process through Talent Management

Skills & Experience:

  • You have a HBO-level educational or working/thinking skills, and 5 years of relevant experience in managing a team in a logistics environment
  • You create a working environment in which employees are able to perform their work qualitatively and quantitatively well, and feel recognized
  • You work independently and result-oriented in collaboration with other teams
  • Proficiency with basic ERP / WMS functionality and problem solving technique; lean management is a pre
  • Flexibility, stress resistance, time management, customer focus, analytical and strong communication skills as well as accountability are required key competencies
  • Experience in leading a team; motivate, coach and provide skills development opportunities
  • Fluent in English and Dutch in writing and verbally
  • Full time availability (38 hours/week – daytime, Mon-Fri)
