The focus of this position is to perform a lead design role for electrical power distribution systems for manufactured equipment including Modular Data Centers and air handling equipment. Functions include power distribution design of mission critical data center equipment, electrical based manufacturing design and liaising with clients, vendors, internal customers, and project teams to ensure projects and products are successfully completed through the entire lifecycle.

This is an onsite role at our Edmonton, Alberta location.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design development throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Perform detailed reviews of electrical drawings and prepare construction work packages.

  • Provide construction support, including RFI, shop drawing review, and commissioning support.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical components.

  • Develop project deliverables such as single line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Experience required:

  • Experienced in the design and implementation of electrical distribution, control, and instrumentation systems for a diverse range of sectors, including Modular Data Center projects and HVAC industrial systems

  • Capable of leading the electrical design process throughout all project stages, from initial concept through detailed design to construction support, including the preparation of design basis memoranda.

  • Proficient in executing electrical design calculations for applications such as Power Rooms for Modular Data Centers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) sizing, generator sizing, lighting design, and heat dissipation, along with performing comprehensive power system studies utilizing SKM software.

  • Adept at creating detailed project documentation, such as single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and material bills, ensuring all deliverables are precise and comprehensive.

  • Well-versed in conducting on-site data collection, equipment evaluations, and investigative procedures to inform project decision-making and progress.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in project management tools for estimating, scheduling, and tracking project progress.

  • Comprehensive understanding of safety, electrical, and building codes (e.g., CSA, IEEE, API, NFPA, OH&S).

  • Ability to prepare scopes of work and construction work packages, focusing on LV electrical system reliability and preventative maintenance.

  • Capable of providing construction support, including RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, field inspections, and commissioning support.

  • Competent in quality control activities, ensuring project deliverables meet industry codes and standards, such as NEC and CEC.

  • Strong communication skills for technical concept explanation and monthly reporting on project achievements and areas for improvement.
