Position Summary / Objective KMS Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems. Candidates with education and experience in engineering fields are highly desired. Essential Functions * Generate solid models; perform static and transient analysis
* Design structures using novel materials including flexible fabrics
* Run structure analysis on Fleet needs. Examples include (but are not limited to) shock, vibration, operational load, acoustics, heat transfer, and impact dynamics testing.
* Generate custom MATLAB code to run complex fluid dynamic analysis on varying soft and solid models.
* Collaborate with scientists on engineering techniques to advance and elevate testing. * Design and run analysis on various lattice types for custom-built force platform. * Advise and support customers through collaborative research.
* Support scientists and engineers to design test apparatus and experimental setups for data collection. * Organize and evaluate testing results. Write technical reports and paper publications to report findings. Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline
* Five (5) years of experience generating solid models and performing structural analysis
* Ability to communicate both orally and in writing to all levels of the customer organization Preferred Education and Experience: * Master's degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline
* Experience specifically with undersea warfare systems and/or Navy training range systems
* Specific experience with NUWC Division Newport Competencies: * Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate written and verbally to all levels of customers and company leadership. * Capable of effectively working and problem-solving in both independent and team environments.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Telework: This position allows for up to 40% telework each week after the first six months of employment. Travel: Up to 10% travel may be required.
