Leidos Maritime System Solutions (MSS) is seeking a Lead Engineering Technician to join a growing, fast-paced engineering research, development, testing and evaluation team at Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific. The selected candidate will be part of a world-class team responsible for development, manufacture and test of electro-mechanical devices for use with UUVs and other undersea systems and maritime mission applications. This individual will work closely with the government-industry engineering team and test director through all project phases. Work may involve prototypes, small quantity proof of concept, and low-rate initial production systems.
As a Lead Engineering Technician, this individual will coordinate and lead the efforts of other technicians supporting the programs. Effort may include supporting lab and at-sea testing of undersea components, subsystems, and systems; technical troubleshooting of UUV components and sub-systems; electro-mechanical integration of hardware and software; test preparation and checkout activities; assisting with execution and reporting of pre-deployment tests; lab support tasks such as shipping/receiving coordination, inventory and parts tracking; and related facilities planning.
This mid-grade position will require the candidate to hold a Secret Clearance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively within the government-industry team
- Perform incoming material receiving inspection for circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and wire harnesses
- Collect, maintain, organize, compile, and manipulate technical data
- Work closely with engineering and recommends alternative solutions to problems and challenges.
- Set-up and conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering analysis.
- Plan and conduct subsystem and system integration
- Lead and support at-sea testing and system checkout/prep activities
- Safely conduct sea-tests in variable sea-states with variable personnel
- Provide field service support on an as-needed basis, including support at-sea.
Basic Qualifications
- Familiar with executing and planning at-sea test activities
- Experience troubleshooting hardware/software systems
- Experience with oceanographic instruments – deployment/recovery/use
- Capable of reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, work orders, and test procedures.
- Experience with the use and operation of standard electronic test equipment; oscilloscopes, meters, frequency generators, etc.
- Capable of writing work orders and test procedures.
- Ability to take initiative in troubleshooting of issues; creative in determining approach or action to take in non-routine situations.
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 3 – 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Ability to travel for short periods of time to support project requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Currently holds a Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with autonomous or uncrewed systems
- Direct experience with undersea sensors and systems
- Soldering Certification
- Supervisory experience with small technical teams
- Marine / shipboard experience
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work on a small boat (i.e. not susceptible to motion sickness)
- Certification as a forklift operator
- Ability to support after-hours and on weekends as needed

Pay Range:
Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
