Job Summary: The Chief Data Scientist (CDS) is responsible for leading enterprise data analysis across the program, focusing on intelligence programs using tools and IT capabilities to improve the use and production of data and results. The CDS role should look for opportunities to develop innovative approaches to analyze and exploit the customer data holdings for rapid data correlation and data processing in support of IC mission requirements. This role requires both IC analytic experience and familiarization with various data analysis tools and techniques. This role spans work with the Program Management Office and the customer to lead complex projects requiring data analysis while identifying opportunities to create enterprise solutions to support decision-makers. This role collaborates with the customer to understand, support, and anticipate changing needs and requirements and offers recommendations for solutions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Build statistical and machine learning models, conducting natural language processing (NLP), and developing automated solutions for complex business challenges.
- Construct and execute complex database search queries across multiple databases using SQL and API interfaces.
- Leverage automation and machine learning to manage data, predict scenarios, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Contribute to building new analytical tools and packages across the enterprise and will be expected to collaborate with team members in a highly technical environment.
- Learn and leverage emerging technologies including AWS and Git.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with personnel at all levels of experience, including Senior Officials.
Basic Qualifications:
- Degree: BS degree in a technical field, such as mathematics, engineering, or computer science. 12+ years of applicable IC experience in data science and/or analysis.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Strong Expertise in AI/ML techniques.
- Experience with program level leadership, this includes directing complex data science and analytic projects.
- Experience with identifying, recommending, and implementing continuous improvement approaches within teams, processes, or technology.
- Experience with communicating direction, approaches, and results to teams, leadership, and customers.
- Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a technical field.
- Experience working with statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS).
- Experience with complex database search queries across multiple databases.
- Agile/scrum experience.
- Experience with creating and fielding enterprise-level solutions.
- Experience with team building and team leading.
