R-00143039 Description The National Security Sector of Leidos has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician III. The candidate, under the direction of the Engineering Manager or Production Support Supervisor will support our Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) contract at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, Rhode Island. An Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or manager as needed, performs recurring work independently. Primary responsibilities This position includes repairing Jigs/Tools/Test Equipment (JTF), inspecting and polishing fiber optic cables, performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) on NATSC JTF, and building/repairing electrical pigtail assemblies in accordance with detailed procedures and other documentation. Assembling or installing equipment or parts that require simple wiring, soldering, or connecting. Build, repair, modify, or troubleshooting module components and wiring harnesses using Universal Test Harness (UTH) or other production lines modules. Repair efforts include using test equipment to take measurement readings and assess the working condition of JTF items and perform necessary repairs to return the item to working condition. JTF PM efforts include taking fiber, electrical measurements using test equipment, apply markings, and working with hazardous materials on various modules as defined in established PM Cards. Follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments; technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may also be reviewed in process. Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineering as needed, performs recurring work independently. Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data. Provides Supervisor status updates when required. Basic Qualifications High school/vocational school diploma or GED certificate and 2+ years electronics repair relevant work experience or a related Technical School or Navy experience. Experience using general purpose test equipment. Candidates must be capable of soldering wires and inspecting and polishing fiber optic cables. The selected candidate will be provided fiber optic and J-STD solder training. Experience performing tasks using formal work procedures. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret level clearance. Must have a minimum of a DOD Interim secret level clearance to start in this position. Knowledge of UTH operations or other production lines operations involved with position. Knowledge of standard computer operations and Microsoft Office and programming software.
