ABOUT THE POSITION

The Default Manager leads the Credit Union's Default Management team which monitors and manages foreclosure activities, collateral disposition real estate and personal property, and collections-based legal activities. This individual will ensure that all default management processes and procedures adhere to state and federal laws and internal Credit Union policies. The Manager will navigate and report on the portfolio of non-performing loans and continually enhance processes to maximize department efficiency and effectiveness.


NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY WORK

  1. Sets the strategic goals for the Default Management team. Effectively communicates and provides feedback and guidance to the team as it relates to the progress and results of team goals.
  2. Creates and maintains scalable, efficient, and compliant processes, procedures, and controls to ensure all Default Management loan activities are executed properly and efficiently.
  3. Coordination and supervision of pre- and post-bankruptcy filing, tracking, recording, and reporting functions.
  4. Control and supervision of pre- and post-acquisition properties, real estate and personal, and the disposal process.
  5. Ensures that accurate maintenance is performed on all loan files assigned to Default Management.
  6. Establishes and maintains engagement with all parties involved in the execution of non-performing loan activities including, but not limited to, attorneys, collateral recovery agents, the Register of Deeds, real estate agents, insurance companies, and law enforcement.
  7. Ensures that all third-party relationships related to loans assigned to Default Management are properly managed by continually assessing service levels. Recommends new service providers if expectations are not being met by existing partners.
  8. Collaborates with the Loan Analytics team to create, maintain and otherwise manage reporting related to loans assigned to Default Management.
  9. Works closely with Lending teams to ensure proactive communication of identified trends impacting Credit Union lending risk tolerance.
  10. Documents and communicates risk exposure and internal control weaknesses of the non-performing loan portfolio to the VP, Loss Mitigation and Default Management.
  11. Provides for staff training and development on Credit Union policies/procedures/products, regulatory compliance, and service level excellence.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be qualified for this position.

  1. Minimum of 7 9 years of experience managing/servicing non-performing loan accounts, including a minimum of 1 3 years of management experience.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge and experience with the loss mitigation life cycle and state and federal laws related to non-performing loans.
  3. Must have strong analytical skills.
  4. Experience developing and managing through policy. Excellent verbal, written, presentation and leadership skills. Must possess a strong service orientation.
  5. PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and the Internet.
  6. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  7. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer).
  8. Travel required on occasion.

  2. Advanced degree preferred.
